Kanye’s super public meltdown feels like a game changer. When someone so influential hurts so many- its bad. It’s happened before, but this time it feels like it has cut much deeper.
His non-stop bad behavior drew global brands Skechers and Adidas into an immediate PR Crisis. Adidas has to unwind a huge business. Skechers had to get him out of their lobby.

Why do I bother to write on this?

I have been there with celebrity partners. It’s one of the reasons I made Mental Health the Mettalusso Mission. It’s also why I created my original characters and entertainment series ‘Mettie + Lunah’s Forever Journey‘.
How did I cope in the situations? Personally and professionally, not easy sometimes- my entire job and immediate career rested on how they were behaving. There really is no way to stop another human being or the negative press they can create.

Here are just a few of my true real-life snippets with my celebrity partners-
- She spent $2 Million of her own money on product development, but there was no product because she could not make up her mind on what items to manufacture and totally ran out of money. 2 years in and $2M later and no brand launch.
- We were released from a major home shopping channel because she repeatedly could not get a babysitter and would cancel live events at the last minute.
- He missed a super important early morning meeting. Trying desperately to find him, I searched the online gossip pages for clues. There were real-time photos of him from the night before. Totally wasted and falling down with another celebrity onto the sidewalks of Hollywood Blvd.
- One kept getting fired from major prime-time TV and movie jobs because he repeatedly told magazines and gossip sites the secrets of his big A-list’er co-workers.
But its not all bad. As the saying goes- one bad apple can spoil the whole bunch. I had tons of great celeb brand experiences too.

A good friend shared that they wrote a letter to Adidas expressing their unhappiness with being too slow to release Kanye from his contract. Adidas quickly responded back with their corporate position for letting him go and their appreciation for being a customer!
How about you? Have you reacted to a celebrity’s bad behavior? Stopped buying product? Would you ever write a company about their corporate responsibilities?

Would I work with another celeb? Probably. But, this time it feels different. And, I totally predict celeb deals will look quite different from here on.
PS- As this publishes, there are reports that Kanye is starting to apologize. Will it make a big difference. Not sure…….like I say, this time feels different.

XOXOXO, Christine. Your happy independent brand owner and founder of Mettalusso
