Why I Don’t Bash Ingredients

Several times this week, I received news on how personal care products and beauty products were failing the users. In the case of moisturizing eye drops by EzriCare, the situation is devastating.

These eye drops do not contain preservatives. So bacteria grew in the product. Reports are: Fifty-five consumers in 12 states including New York got infections so severe some were hospitalized. Some went blind, and one person died.

There is also a lot of talk on Reddit about some makeup by a brand that uses a very subtle preservative system. Bacteria also grew in this product. Complaints of really bad smells coming from the product are posted everywhere.

This is why I don’t bash ingredients. 2 reasons actually. First, you might be using an ingredient that someone is bashing. That would mean they are bashing YOU. To me, that is not a good thing to do. I believe in your freedom to choose. what works for you.

Secondly, globally approved product- which many products are- use preservatives (and lots of other ingredients I see getting vilified everywhere). They have been tested. They exist for the reason of consumer safety.

This is why I don’t bash ingredients!

Certainly there are some of us that have bad reactions to an ingredient. Luckily, there is a lot of product to try and to find the right one that works for you.

So, when you hear a person or company bashing an ingredient, please be careful- your safety comes first. So does your freedom to choose what you want to use and what makes you happy.
