How do you feel today? Part of your answer could describe your state of mental health. Mental Health. No…not the big stuff. Let’s leave that to the true professionals.
You practice-we all practice our own version of mental health every day. It’s called coping. It’s how we get through the day. How we feel some sense of confidence and accomplishment. We read and do things to keep up the psyche. That all happens INTERNALLY. So what about EXTERNALLY? Just last week, we learned that Simone Biles says keeping a ‘Worry Journal’ helps her.

Externally. This influence on our mental health has a lot to do with how we feel about the way we look. I know this is true. Check this study — The British Academy of Dermatology says 29% of the population feels they won’t find love because of the way the look. Many studies prove the impacts skin issues has on people!

Lost productivity every year stems from lost work and opportunities passed because someone felt too bad about the way they look. Study from the American Academy of Dermatology.
Something happened to me, that totally reinforces this discussion. It’s anecdotal. Its personal, but it is also so very real. It shows just how true this is on a one-to-one and very-human-level.
One of my very talented makeup artist influencers shared a photo of a before and after makeup look of one of her clients. She sent it via Instagram on a DM. Not unusual. I start working very early, but even at 6am this morning, this photo jumped out at me.

Then, the backstory flowed in. Ashley had just lost her Dad. She also just had a baby. Huge life events and things had been a bit overwhelming lately. My influencers receive my makeup and skincare product gratis of course. This is what she shared from the make-over:
“She recently lost her father and had a baby. She has had a rough time lately and yesterday not one tear or drop of sadness due to having a full makeover. Your products allowed me to do that for her for free…I was able to gift her that day of joy.” @muajazmine
Makeup + the People behind it. A moment when makeup is definitely much more than makeup.
